Ams 5862 is a precipitation hardening alloy with high strength and hardness and moderate corrosion resistance. Ams 5862 is a variant of the older 17-4 and 15-5 alloys and is designed to have higher toughness than S17400, especially in the through-thickness (short transverse) direction. Ams 5862 is used in applications requiring high transverse strength and toughness, such as engine components, aircraft components, nuclear reactor components, etc.
